Accessibility Statement
Our commitment to every traveler who uses this site
Last reviewed: May 2025. This statement is reviewed and updated each time a significant change is made to any Travendex site.
Our Commitment
Travendex builds accessibility databases for plus size travelers, people managing chronic illness, travelers with disabilities, and anyone navigating a travel industry that was not built with them in mind. It would be a fundamental contradiction to build those databases on a website that is not itself accessible.
We are committed to meeting the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA across all Travendex sites. This applies to Travendex.com and every database in the suite: AirEndex, CruisEndex, PortEndex, ExcursEndex, ResortEndex, DestEndex, RailEndex, EventEndex, HealthEndex and InsurEndex.
What We Have Done
The following measures have been implemented across all Travendex sites:
- Color contrast: Text and background combinations are tested against WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratio requirements. Normal text meets the 4.5:1 minimum. Large display text meets the 3:1 minimum.
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements are reachable and operable using a keyboard alone. Tab order follows a logical reading sequence. No action requires a mouse or touch input.
- Skip navigation: A skip to main content link is the first focusable element on every page, allowing keyboard and screen reader users to bypass the navigation menu.
- Heading structure: Each page has one H1. Major sections use H2. Subsections use H3. Heading levels are never skipped.
- Form labels: All form inputs have visible or screen reader accessible labels. Placeholder text is not used as a substitute for a label.
- Semantic HTML: Navigation, main content and footer landmarks are implemented using proper HTML5 elements so assistive technology can identify page structure.
- ARIA attributes: ARIA labels are applied to interactive elements where the visible text alone does not fully describe the element's purpose.
- Focus indicators: Visible focus states are present on all interactive elements for keyboard navigation users.
- Language attribute: The primary language of each page is declared in the HTML element.
- Video and audio: Any video content added to Travendex sites will include accurate human reviewed captions. Auto generated captions are not used.
Known Limitations
We audit all Travendex sites regularly using the WAVE tool and Google Lighthouse. As of the last review, we are aware of the following areas still being improved:
- Some decorative text elements in feature sections may not yet meet the full 4.5:1 contrast ratio. These are being addressed with each deployment cycle.
- The Travendex suite is actively being built. New databases as they launch will be audited before going live.
We do not consider accessibility a checkbox. It is an ongoing process and every deployment improves the score.
Standards and Guidelines
Travendex sites aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. These guidelines are the internationally recognised standard for web accessibility.
We also follow the guidance of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and monitor emerging case law and regulatory guidance related to digital accessibility for U.S.-based web properties.
Testing Approach
Accessibility testing on all Travendex sites includes:
- Automated scans using the WAVE accessibility evaluation tool at wave.webaim.org
- Google Lighthouse accessibility audits run against each major deployment
- Manual keyboard navigation testing on every page before launch
- Color contrast verification using dedicated contrast ratio tools
Report an Accessibility Issue
If you encounter any barrier on a Travendex site that prevents you from accessing content or completing a task, we want to know about it. We take every report seriously and will respond within two business days.
Email us at accessibility@travendex.com with a description of the issue, the page where you encountered it, and the assistive technology or browser you were using if known. You do not need to provide any of that detail if you prefer not to. A general description is enough to get started.
Response within 2 business daysThird Party Content
Some Travendex pages may link to external sites including government resources, airline websites, cruise line documentation and third party tools. We cannot control the accessibility of content on external sites and this statement applies only to pages hosted on Travendex.com and the individual database domains in the Travendex suite.
Enforcement and Formal Complaints
If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility concern, you may contact the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division or file a complaint through the appropriate regulatory channel for your location.
We would strongly prefer to resolve any accessibility issue directly. Please contact us first at accessibility@travendex.com.
